Sales Team

Farmin’ Fishes has made some major upgrades that will blow your mind and shows major potential in the fish farming industry! As head of the sales department for only five years, I have watched this place explode in science, as well as business. The technology behind keeping our fish happy and healthy is constantly being updated with state of the art systems capable of housing a greater number of fish than ever before. Increasing the amount of fish harvested from fish farming will provide sustainable food for the public while decreasing wild harvest. In order to keep with this mission, last month alone we installed ten new ponds, larger filtration systems for our existing ponds, and even a new interactive koi pond for guests to feed.

Our new ponds are our biggest to date, stretching seventy feet long and forty feet wide. The ponds are six feet deep and equipped with the largest aeration system we have ever created. The air pumps alone circulate hundreds of gallons of water every minute providing more than enough oxygen for massive amounts of fish. We plan to stock them with largemouth bass, channel catfish, and rainbow trout due to their high demand as game fish in our area. Our new aeration system also stirs up the water allowing for the filtration to capture all fish waste making these new ponds our cleanest to date. Cleaner water results in happier, healthier fish. The aeration system is important because the ponds will be stocked with 200,000 to 500,000 adult fish, depending on the species. This massive amount of fish will need a massive amount of oxygen to thrive. These new ponds will allow Farmin’ Fishes to officially house up to twelve million adult fish! The best part is the knowledge of where exactly your fish is coming from. Our fish are free from contaminations and heavy metals that are found in almost all of our large bodies of water.

While constructing these new renovations and expanding our fish carrying capacity, we upgraded the existing filtration as well. The old system is now gone, and a fresh system that cycles double the amount of water then the previous system is installed. This new filtration system will minimize disease by providing cleaner water than ever before; this will maximize the fish survival rate. The boosted filtration ability also will allow us to feed the fish a greater amount of food therefore increasing their growth rates. This will ultimately lead to a greater amount of fish we can output each year. These new tanks suited with upgraded filtration and better aeration will allow us to keep a greater number of fish than ever before.

Come see our new advancements in fish farming. Even if you’re not into the fish, we have something for everyone. Our brand-new koi pond provides entertainment for the whole family, especially the kids. If you have not visited beautiful—rural–Roanoke Virginia then you have to plan a visit and while you’re at it stop on by the Farmin’ Fishes hatchery. Our farm is located in the Appalachian Mountains; the drive out to the hatchery is unmatched with spectacular scenery. Guests are allowed to purchase fresh fish that they are allowed to hand pick for dinner, hand feed our many different species of fish in different ponds, purchase pet koi, and even buy fish in bulk for the purpose of pond stocking. Come on down and see our company’s progress! There is one thing we like more than fish: our visitors!

If you are reading this you are most likely a fish nerd or enthusiast like me; based on that I am assuming you care about the well-being of our wild fish and conserving what species we have now. I love fish—especially looking out for them. My name is George Blueman and I have a PHD in freshwater fish conservation. I have spent countless hours doing field research as well as habitat surveys all over the country. I have one single mission: to save my fish buddies. My goal is to try to find better ways to sustainably harvest fish in order to preserve the species diversity present now for future generations. The first step to this is the educate the public which is why I am making this blog post in the first place. To say our wild fish stocks are in trouble is an understatement and something needs to be done to help out our fellow fish friends.

The future of the world’s wild fish stocks is in grave danger. Humans have been waging war against fish from the dawn of time and we are winning due to how far our technology has come. Our methods of locating and capturing fish have become so advanced that our fish have no chance of avoiding the dinner plate. To say we are now shooting fish in a barrel would be an understatement. Everyday the ocean is prowled with boats the size of warships scooping up any life to fill our dinner plates. If we are going to have fish in the future something must be done to take the pressure off wild fish stocks. This is why fish farming could be the solution that we are looking for. Fish farming involves growing fish in an artificial setting such as a pond or tank in order to be harvested for fish products. With fish being hatched and grown in an artificial system we will no longer have to seek wild fish for the high demand. Fish farming is the solution to our depleting natural fish stocks and if implemented in higher numbers could save our doomed fish.

Farmin’ Fishes is a fish farm located in Roanoke Virginia that shares this goal of minimizing human influence on wild fish stocks by growing them in an artificial setting for the purpose of consumption. I visited this farm in January 2018, and I was lucky enough to see first-hand all the different species of fish they are farming such as trout, largemouth bass, catfish, and even decorative koi fish. They had great facilities with state of the art ponds and filtration systems. Companies like Farmin’ Fishes are the future and the only hope for our wild fish stocks. I encourage anyone looking for fresh fish to eat, stock, or keep as pets to check out Farmin’ Fishes or any other fish farm when making your next fish related purchase. If you want to eat fish in the future than fish farms are our only sustainable option and giving them our business will allow them to out compete the commercial fishing decimating wild fish stocks.
